Hey young adults, after church today let’s all go to lunch together.  We will all come planning to buy our lunch at a local fast food place and enjoy the conversation you can have around a booth!

Bible Memory Bash 2012 (K-Grade 4)
We are in the middle of a new 8 week series in Main Street called “Winter Extreme” focusing around winter sports competitions (X Factor Games).  It teaches the children how to be disciples of Jesus and what that means.  Each week there is a Bible verse that goes along with the lesson to reinforce what they have learned.  It is so important and so valuable for your children to commit scripture to memory.  This is the age they absorb it and retain it!  So with this being said I am encouraging and challenging the kids to be a part of the BIBLE MEMORY BASH.  This is how it works:

  • Each week, over the next 8 weeks, from January 8th to February 26th the kids will be given a new memory verse card that they collect on a ring and take home with them.
  • At the end of 8 weeks if they have memorized all eight verses and are able to say all of them by themselves to one of the Main Street leaders they will be  rewarded with their own “X Factor” medal and a Victory Party in early March (date to be announced) to celebrate their achievement.

Please encourage your children to be a part of this activity.  They will need you to be their cheerleaders and coaches.  The true reward is not in the medal or in the party but in the truths that they will hide in their hearts!

Thriving Family Magazine
The January-February issue of Focus on the Family’s Thriving Family magazine is now available.  Pick up your copy in Kidsville or at Connections Corner.

Please contact 857-3033 if you require further information.

Potluck with Paul & Kelly Carline
Join us on Sunday, February 12th at 5:30pm for a potluck with our Partners-In-Mission, Paul & Kelly Carline, serving as CBM Global Field Staff in Nairobi, Kenya.  The Carlines are in Canada on home assignment and would like the chance to tell us about their work in Africa.  Please bring your favourite main dish or salad to share; dessert and beverages will be provided.

Sniffle Sniffle! A Note for Parents from Kidsville
It’s that wonderful time of year again—cold and flu season!  I know, very exciting.  In Kidsville, we’re all about sharing—except when it comes to our germs!  To that end, we’re is making every effort to keep those silly germs at bay for the benefit of all of our fantastic kids (not to mention fantastic leaders)—lots of Purell and hand-washing!  So, we’d love for you to join us in the fight against phlegm, the battle against boogies, the conflict with coughing…well, you get the idea.  If your little soldier is fighting their own little bug, please help us out by doing one of 2 things:  You can keep your brave little sniffler on the sidelines for a week to protect the rest of the troops, or at least let your leaders know what we’re up against so they can make every effort to secure the fort against enemy influenzic invaders!  Thanks for your help, parents!  Together, we can help keep everyone “over the weather!”

Church Keys
Attention all church key holders!  In the near future we will be starting to lock the interior lobby door as a security measure.  However, the new lock is causing problems for the keys currently issued.  Please try your key in both locks, and if it needs replacing, please sign up at Connections Corner or notify the office.

Thank You
On behalf of the New Life Mission I would like to take this time to thank you for the graciousness and willingness of Lewisville with regards to the Gift Night held in December.  Your support through donating items to New Life Mission for our children, youth and their families was amazing.  The “Here to Serve” attitude from the church was evident this Christmas season as you provided the opportunity for families to have a special Christmas, which they might not of had otherwise.  May God  continue to bless you as you serve Him.

Also, if you are interested in supporting New Life Mission beyond the Christmas season, there is always a way to help, whether financially, through volunteering, or a bottle or snack donation.  Please do not hesitate to call me at the Mission (859-4277) or speak to me at the end of the service.

Christmas in Kidsville
There is a variety of extra programs and events that go on at Lewisville over the Christmas Season.  In Kidsville we want to give our volunteers an opportunity to have a break and to be a part of these things.  In order to do this, we will be   providing limited childcare during this season.  For the month of December, the Meeting Room will be set up as a children’s area with a live feed from the service or event.  This will allow for parents and caregivers to view the program if their little ones are restless and they need a place go when there is no childcare.

There will be NO childcare or children’s programs provided during these times:

December 24th,  7:00pm        2nd Christmas Eve Service only

PLEASE NOTE:  There will be childcare available during the 5pm service time on Christmas Eve in Kidsville for infants-age 4.

December 25th, 10:45 am    Christmas Day Worship Service

Christmas Eve Services
As we’ve done over the last few years, we’ll be offering two Christmas Eve services—one at 5pm and one at 7pm—in an effort to accommodate as many folks and families as we can.  The two options are designed to help young     families with an earlier choice, and also to help accommodate many folks who have a variety of commitments during this time.  Please feel free to take advantage of either service as they will be identical presentations.  We hope you, your family and anyone and everyone you can invite will join with us for one of our services on December 24th.

“The Light Before Christmas”
TONIGHT at 6:30pm our Wee Worship Choir will be presenting their Christmas   musical featuring Lewisville’s own Dr. Kookopolous!  As he and his friends decorate for their Science Class Christmas Party a few thoughtful lessons from Miss Diane help the kids begin to understand how the birth of Jesus was not the beginning of the story but the middle of a much bigger story, and why we celebrate Christmas.  This musical presentation features over 20 of our fantastic ‘wee’ voices, with a special appearance by the Kidsville Crowd, and will kick-start your Christmas celebrations with a focus on Jesus—the true LIGHT of Christmas.  You won’t want to miss it!

This evening will also give you the chance to support the New Life Mission through the giving of gifts.  This is an annual tradition here at Lewisville—one we all love!  Check out the details below.

Gift Night in Support of New Life Mission
Let’s ‘undecorate the tree’! Our annual Gift Night in support of New Life Mission is TONIGHT and we need YOUR help with this festive Here to Serve opportunity.  We at Lewisville have the chance to provide gifts for families who may not otherwise receive any this Christmas.  Here’s how it works:

The tree in the lobby has a number of gift ideas on Christmas lights – pick one (or two, or three, or four)!
Purchase the gift that’s specified on the tag
Bring the gift (unwrapped) to Gift Night tonight at 6:30 pm.

Our goal is to have all of the light tags gone from the tree.  For once it will be a good thing to see a Christmas tree with no decorations as it will mean children and families have been thought of this season. Check out the work of New Life Mission at www.newlifemoncton.webs.com.

Thank You
Dear Church Family,
I would like to say a huge thank you to the church family for a wonderful wedding shower.  I appreciate your kindness, generosity, support, and love throughout my years at Lewisville and I thank God for the wonderful example you all have been to me.  I appreciate the wonderful gifts and am looking forward to being able to use them all.  I would like to especially thank DJ Moore and Ashley Dana for organizing the event, for the ladies that came out to the shower, and for those who were involved behind the scenes.  God bless.

Ashley Barron
